Exploring Life and Movement Through an Improvisational Film Process: filmmaker Mark Valino shares his experiences, defining moments, and inspirations that led to the creation of the “Moments of Movement” video series. We explore things like developing a one shot improvisational filming method and challenges working with live environments. About the Artist
As a multimedia artist, director, producer, editor, and cinematographer, Mark Valino is the full production package in one. He has over 15 years experience in the television/broadcast industry, working with major Canadian broadcast networks like CTV, CBC, and Canwest Global. His focus is to create and document stories, while providing a platform to showcase his community's artists. In May 2020 "Mr Jane and Finch" a short documentary that Valino had the honor of being Director of Photography received the Donald Brittain Award from the Canadian Screen Awards for Best Social/Political Documentary. He has documented Toronto's rich and vibrant hip hop and dance cultures for over twenty years through video and photos including his work with Manifesto Community Projects. Valino continues to capture precious "Moments of Movement" travelling the globe exploring dance and movement through foreign and local spaces. Driven by his love for music, dance, and culture, Valino's visual style is dynamic and intuitive and continues to evolve.
