Using dance as a vessel for queer self-discovery, this workshop focuses on waacking foundations and improvisational movement techniques that informed the creation process of Juan’s commissioned film “The Meeting Place”. Posing, flow, and circular and non-linear ideas will be investigated through the lens of queer embodiment. How can these concepts intersect with weighted and explosive movement qualities?
This workshop is catered towards queer, trans, and non-binary BIPOC. We welcome all bodies, abilities, and dance backgrounds seeking to use dance as a tool for exploring gender and queer identity. Be sure to check out Juan’s film “The Meeting Place” alongside 5 other world premieres on November 26th.
Schedule: 6-7PM: Waacking Foundations 7-8PM: Queering Practice
