Opening Screening: Where We Dwell
With Live Talkback facilitated by Erin Lum
Friday, November 8 at 7:00pm - 9:30 PM PST
SFU - Djavad Mowafaghian Theatre, 3rd floor + Digital Library

Opening the festival, Where We Dwell is an ode to how movement exists within us, takes us to new places, and brings us together.

Movement sparks journeys that come alive through the lens of a camera. It is a vessel for introspection, for experimenting with process and form, and for redefining space and our bodies’ relationship to it. On this common ground we find the intimacy and beauty of being held in community. Join us in witnessing films that showcase the voices of artists across so-called Canada, marking a vibrant and dynamic moment in movement-on-screen.

Public Screens
November 8th - 30th
Mount Pleasant Community Art Screen + SFU Goldcorps Centre for the Arts Lobby + more

Screens are an integral part of our daily lives, constantly within reach. Yet rarely do we pause to consider what they might offer beyond the everyday. This year’s Public Screens program invites you to engage with these familiar surfaces from a different perspective. Each film, though under 5 minutes, encourages us to step out of our routines and reflect on the pieces of ourselves we don’t often take time to celebrate—the moments that shape us, stay with us, and shift as we move through the world.

If you can’t catch these films in person, you can still experience them from November 14 - 24 via our Digital Library by purchasing a Digital Pass. Snap a pic or video of the screen and tag @formvancouver — we'd love to see how you experience these moments of movement!

A central heartbeat of F-O-R-M, the annual Commissioning Fund Program celebrates the ambitious creativity of Youth and Emerging artists as they make new films exploring the range of intersections between movement and film. Additionally, it is a catalyst for these artists to distinctively share powerful stories, and an opportunity for their voices as creative leaders to be nourished.
