Every year, one of our commissioned artists takes the lead in a festival workshop. This year, we're thrilled to have Joanne Park and the collaborative team of Adam Smith and Colby McLean as co-facilitators for the festival's final workshop!

The workshop will unfold in three parts:
The waving section of the workshop will go over the basics of arm and body waves, then into a lab of integrating waving into each participants' existing dance. Some popping techniques will be highlighted, but the main focus is to use waving with any style of dance. Any background of dance is welcome (including no background of dancing). The warm up will aim to activate everybody’s body for waving, regardless of past experience.
The krump section of the workshop is going to give some of the most fundamental ideas and movements used in krump in a way that can be applied to any style of dance; Having a major focus on character and applying foundations into freestyle. We will focus mostly on the conceptual aspect of movement rather than the technical aspect.
The freestyle section of the workshop will be a cypher-based exploration of different idea generation exercises. The goal being to provide dancers with a tool kit for use in both a slower-paced lab and faster-paced freestyle setting. This will give the participants an opportunity to apply their learning from the previous sections in a guided environment. This section will have something for everyone!
Join Joanne, Adam, and Colby in this workshop to learn more about their processes, followed by our closing screening. Experience their films, along with four other world premieres, on Saturday, November 18th at 7 PM.

Entry Instructions:
The building is accessible at street level on the Hastings side or via a ramp on the Cordova Street Courtyard side (across from JJ Bean Coffee).
There are 2 ramp entry points:
One is located against the building, near the entrance to the Woodward’s Westbank Atrium (which houses London Drugs and Nesters)
Another is located against the building, beside the alley.
Getting Here:
The building is a ten-minute walk from Waterfront Station, where the Skytrain, Seabus and Westcoast Express meet; city buses run directly from this hub to the Hastings Street entrance. If approaching via the Stadium-Chinatown Station on Skytrain's Expo-Millenium line, the walk to SFU's Goldcorp Centre for Arts is five minutes.
Accessibility:
Wheelchair accessible at street level on Hastings side or via ramp on Cordova Street Courtyard side, all venues within building accessible by elevator.
Both the Hastings doors and the Cordova Courtyard doors can be operated by accessibility buttons located beside the doorways.
