F-O-R-M’s Commissioning Fund Program is at the heart of the festival.

Our 2023 Commissioned Artists blend movement and film in distinctive ways, using this medium to connect with their individual identities and experiences. Their authentic and vulnerable approach creates a sense of community, inviting audiences to connect beyond the screen as their journeys intersect. 

Every year, one of our commissioned artists takes the lead in a festival workshop.

This year, we're thrilled to have Joanne Park and the collaborative team of Adam Smith and Colby McLean as co-facilitators for the waving and krump-based freestyle workshop.

A pre-recorded talkback featuring this year’s 2023 Mini Commissions cohort will follow the screening, giving audiences insight into how their films came together.

Using multiple approaches to embodied storytelling, from animation to poetry to theatrical dance breaks, these films address varied questions of access (to resources, to safety, to community) and how they intersect and influence each filmmaker's approach to moving through the world on a daily basis.

HOLD_xyz is a dance and XR research project led by artists Nancy Lee, Ian Nakamoto, and Ralph Escamillan.

Our opening screening is an homage to the various ways movement is expressed, observed, and experienced in film.

Our annual FORMations Jam returns with movement facilitation by OURO Collective and live music from Ben Brown and Raphaël Foisy of Music And Movement Mondays (MAMM)!
