A central heartbeat of F-O-R-M, the annual Commissioning Fund Program celebrates the ambitious creativity of Youth and Emerging artists as they make new films exploring the range of intersections between movement and film.

Each year, in anticipation of the premiere of the Commissioned Artists’ films created through the Commissioning Fund Program, we gather to learn more about some of the ideas motivating and inspiring their work. As we draw our focus in on our local community this year we invite you, our F-O-R-M audiences and artists past and present, to come together to share what is inspiring and exciting you in the current moment.

A film premiere and a look at the unfolding creative process of an emerging artist and their collaborators navigating XR technology.

Join us in the digital space for a gathering and conversation with out-of-town artists who are presenting films in this year’s festival. This event is open to all artists and audiences — come meet fellow community members, discuss the films, and ask artists questions about their works!

BOSSY x F-O-R-M x Vancouver Street Dance Association (VSDA) invite you to “THE GET DOWN,” a Hip-Hop & Funk ladies cypher that celebrates women in Vancouver's street dance community. Led by Glo Romy, a Hip Hop dancer and director from Toronto, this event pays tribute to the multigenerational street dancers who have kept our culture thriving. Come dance and get down with vibrant dancers from the community! Prioritizing access to women and non-binary individuals.

Our annual movement and filmmaking jam returns! Participants will create and present their own short movement-based film by the end of this workshop.

Our opening screening Where We Dwell is a commemoration of how movement exists within us, takes us to new places, and brings us together.
